Where it All Started:
The Selman Ranch in Northwest Oklahoma is a Centennial Ranch located in Harper County. J.O. and Lena Selman started the ranch in the early 1900s. At one time, it encompassed over 60,000 acres. Today, it remains a sizable operation at 14,000 acres.
While this is a working cattle ranch, it is also carefully managed for wildlife. Because this ranch and others in the area are rangeland—not farmland—it is a magnet for birds. Birds are plentiful year-round, including migratory species that pass through the Central Flyway. Our diverse habitat provides excellent nesting opportunities.
